Meet our team
Our Okayama University Men's Lacrosse Club is the largest sports club in the Okayama University Athletic Association, currently with approximately 100 players and team staff.
In order to embody the team philosophy of "Be a Leader - to produce talented people who can motivate and move the team forward," students are also actively involved in running the team.
Between 2009 and 2012, the school achieved the feat of being in the top four in the entire university for four consecutive years.
After that, they remained away from the university-wide stage until 2020, but in 2021 they defeated their biggest rival, Tohoku University, and achieved their long-awaited dream of competing in the university-wide stage.
In addition, the school is a regular winner in the league matches in the Chugoku-Shikoku region, and its goal has always been to compete on the university stage. However, in 2022 and 2023, the school lost in the FINAL4 and FINAL, and was unable to even claim the title of Chugoku-Shikoku champion.
Although we were anxious to "recapture the Chugoku-Shikoku championship," we set our sights on winning the national championship this year in order to erase the disappointment of the past two years.
The league match, which began on July 14 after a loss in the opening game, is now in its final game, and it is an important match for the 4th year students to decide whether to retire or achieve our goal. We will do our best to achieve good results and give good news to all of our supporters.
Lacrosse is a university sport and not a major sport in the general public. Therefore, it is lacking in all aspects, including the environment, equipment, and funding.
Many club members live alone and balance their studies with part-time jobs, so just paying for club fees, travel expenses, and equipment purchases is difficult.
In particular, our club is located in the Chugoku-Shikoku region, which is an especially minor part of the minor lacrosse world, so even if we would like to play practice matches with teams in the Kanto and Kansai regions, where lacrosse is popular, we are unable to do so actively due to cost issues.
Therefore, in order to hold practice matches, the only option is to cut back on expenses for other equipment and use the money for the trip. If the equipment is not in perfect condition, the players will not be able to perform at their best.
The ball that is the featured item this time is an essential item for playing lacrosse.
In addition, because Okayama University has a dirt ground, energy is wasted quickly, and it became difficult to manage the ball satisfactorily, especially on days when the first-year students' practice times overlapped with the upper-year students' practice times.
In fact, within the last two weeks of summer vacation, I was no longer able to use more than five dozen (60 balls).
With a series of games coming up that we cannot afford to lose, we will be practicing harder.
I chose this because I wanted it to help me carry out my daily practice and self-training smoothly.
We appreciate your support.
