Meet our team
Our club was founded in 1924 and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. We have about 80 members, the largest number among university Rover Scouts in Japan.
We are active all over the country, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, focusing on camping activities and volunteer work.
The most distinctive feature of our club is that it is "student-led." Most of the activities, such as planning camp itineraries and safety management, partnering with volunteer activities, negotiating with other groups and parties, and PR activities, are run by students themselves. Each member takes it personally and thinks about "what we should do to bring the whole club together as one," and by sharing their opinions, we aim to reach higher.
They encourage each other even in difficult times, strengthen their bonds through camping with their comrades who share food, clothing and shelter, and continue to "challenge" themselves to become a better club.
Project Objective
From late August to early September, we will hold a summer training camp in Hokkaido, traveling 150 km over a period of approximately 10 days.
This summer camp is the culmination of all the training they have accumulated so far, and on the final day there will be a ceremony where the new students will join the force.
All members are working hard to ensure that everyone completes the walk and that the training camp is a fruitful one.
However, since the majority of our income comes from club fees collected from current members, we are chronically struggling with financial difficulties. In particular, we are having difficulty obtaining gas canisters, which are essential for camping.
Since we do everything ourselves, including cooking, during camping trips, gas canisters are essential for cooking. However, since we are unable to arrange air shipments from Tokyo on our own, we are facing the challenge of finding a sufficient supply.
We will treasure each and every item that you have given us, keeping in mind your thoughts. In order to give back to everyone, we will actively promote our activities and do our best. We hope to overcome the lack of equipment and have a fulfilling summer training camp.
